OK, this is one of those situations when my opinion of a book seems at odds with other reviews. I am a true crime junkie and have read many, many books from this genre. While the story of the Beauty Queen Killer was incredible and dramatic, the book itself seemed strangely weak in the research department. While reading, it was my impression that the details likely came from easily obtainable public sources rather than developed through the tedious detailed research that would have made the book truly memorable. To me , it read as more of a summary than a fully researched book. This author is obviously highly regarded and has many fans so I am left to wonder what I missed.Product details

This was a run of the mill serial killer story. I was not impressed.
A good book.
One has to question the perspective of this author, who in another "book", states that Arthur Shawcross was handsome and well-educated (150 Facts about Serial Killers)......Shawcross had learning disabilities, did not achieve more than a high school education, his early (enlisted) military career was aborted by his psychological/behavioral problems, and was of ordinary appearance.
This reads more like a magazine article in a publication without very high standards. However, only one other book on Wilder has been published, so readers may not be able to locate a better source of information on Wilder. Internet browsing may prove just as informative, tho.
Very fascinating book. I wasn't familiar with this particular case. Great details and extra insight into what makes a serial killer. Will be reading more of your books.
Liked this book. Jack Rosewood is an awesome author. I had heard about this case before but learned a lot more after reading this story. Recommend for true crime buffs.
I read true crime exclusively and always choose books with 4 stars or more from at least 25 people. The method has worked well for me. Until now. This book was a major disappointment. Author repeated himself and seemed to leave the reader to fill in the many gaps he left. He referred to Wilder as "the beauty queen killer" constantly, which I found extremely annoying, especially when the author only made brief mention of a victim that was a beauty queen. The only saving grace was the book was short, which, although I was delighted to finish, added to the feeling of being ripped off. Following the book was 20% advertising for author's other books, and then a random chapter about serial killers. Maybe his publisher directed him to add more meat to the weak story. Who knows. Skip it!
This was a very quick read. not to much detail. Very short and to the point, maybe it would of been better had Jack Rosewood stayed with one criminal at a time not everyone of his other books. All Rosewood did was prove how inhuman Christopher Wilder was, without the details. Could of been a lot better.
